If you like playing “Charades” or “Pictionary” then you should consider being a Level 1 English teacher at the Hope Intercultural Mission Center.  Sometimes, as I introduce new vocabulary words, I find myself either acting out the action or event, or else drawing pictures on the white board and hoping my artwork isn’t too bad.  (It doesn’t help to have a student in my class who is an accomplished artist.)  Most of the students in my class have been Russian-speaking people from Belarus, Ukraine, or Russia, but just recently I had a lady start the class who is from Sudan.  So it is truly an “intercultural” center.

Although I do not have much opportunity to dialogue with my students since their English is still so limited, it is very enjoyable just to have fun with them and hopefully make them less anxious about learning English.  And as they continue coming to the Hope Center, they can make some new friends and have some time to socialize, not only with each other, but also with Elena and Anatoliy.  In this way, some bridges can be made for inviting them to other events sponsored by the Center where the Gospel is presented and they can have the chance to hear about the Lord.  This, of course, is our greatest desire for each person that comes through the door, and in this regard we hope you will partner with us in prayer – for these people to have openness and receptiveness to spiritual things as we try to be a witness and testimony to them, either through words or just in our non-verbal communication.
